Ólafur Thorgeirsson was a young man of 21 yrs. who left Iceland in 1887 from Akureyri. He was listed as a printer by trade. From 1895 until 1954, Ólafur S. Thorgeirsson's Almanak recorded the histories of the various settlements, biographies and personal milestones of the emigrants, and notices of deaths. Ólafur died in 1936; the Almanak continued until 1954.
